During the 19th Century a great number
of railways were built throughout Sussex to link
the dispersed populations, and to transport the
products of farming and quarrying. Many of these
lines were close in the 1960's leaving no more
than a line of rotting telegraph poles or a
bridge crossing nothing in the middle of a field.
We have selected a comprehensive collection of
books covering the history, operation and
restoration of many of these branch lines.
